A new, cutting-edge “colour system,” Chromatica represents an exciting collaboration between Stockholm-based Note Design Studio and Vibia. Featuring a curated palette of 23 colours—including darks, vibrants, neutrals and lights—it was created as an inspirational tool for designers and architects. The Vibia team and its CEO Pere Llonch welcomed 11 members of the media in the gallery area. They mingled over cocktails and appetizers beside a striking wall display of Chromatica as revealed through the Note-designed Musa lamp. Pressing buttons next to the display, the journalists were able to explore the endless design effects available with the different tones and brightness levels. Later, Llonch along with Note design director Cristiano Pigazzini and interior architect Sanna Wahlin, spoke to the group about the origins and ideas behind Chromatica, called “Vibia’s world of colour and materiality.” Wahlin explained that it’s based on hues found in nature and the materials used in architectural environments like stone, concrete and brick. “It’s a timeless universe of colours, rich and nuanced,” she said, and one that can be mix and matched or used in a monochromatic colour scheme. As Pigazzini explained, “it’s not just 23 colours, it’s so much more. We can’t define everything about Chromatica. It’s a platform that gives endless creativity to professionals.”Dinner followed with a seasonal menu inspired by the colours of Chromatica. Here, the assembled press shared their impressions of the collection. Sara Cullen, product editor at Darc, appreciated how “it’s not just a concept. It’s an idea made tangible and one that integrates naturally with Vibia designs.” Detail’s editor-in-chief Sandra Hofmeister was intrigued by how they were able to find colours that worked across Vibia’s wide-ranging lighting collections. And she noted that although colour is often fashion-driven, Chromatica’s tones are “soft, classic, and elegant.” Editor-in-chief of MD, Susanne Tamborini, also commented on the colours’ refinement. “Vibia is known for its technological innovation and this is a decorative alignment for the brand,” she said. This is the emotional part. Andrea Pirruccio, Interni’s lighting editor, called it a “poetic project.” He admired its range and how it enables just the right tone for specific spaces: warm hues for a restaurant, brighter for an office, for example. Echoing their comments, Soledad Lorenzo, editor-in-chief at Arquitectura Y Diseño, described Chromatica as a “concept of the future.” “With this collection, Vibia is saying lighting is much more than the object. It makes an entire space inviting.” For Mia Pizzi, editor-in-chief of Abitare, Chromatica is a welcome change: “After a period of perfect white, I think we need colour.” Pizzi believes it’s an ideal way to personalize a project and “one more step in Vibia’s innovation.” Chromatica’s palette felt Nordic to Juliana Neira, Design Boom’s product editor, but “it make senses for every possible situation.” What’s more “it makes minimalism recognizable and adding colours specific to Vibia adds dimension to the brand.” Intramuros’ product editor Rémi de Marassé Enouf was drawn to the idea of colour as a design layer. “I never thought of it this way. I thought of colour as a background separate from the object. This makes it a complete part of the space and puts the object in perspective.” Press ELLE DECORATION, France – Audrey Schneuwly, Product Editor INTRAMUROS, France – Rémi de Marassé Enouf, Product Editor DETAIL, Germany – Sandra Hofmeister, Editor in-chief MD, Germany – Susanne Tamborini, Editor in-chief DESIGN BOOM, Italy – Juliana Neira, Product Editor INTERNI, Italy – Andrea Pirruccio, Lighting Editor ABITARE, Italy – Mia Pizzi, Editor in-chief ARQUITECTURA Y DISEÑO, Spain – Soledad Lorenzo, Editor in-chief T MAGAZINE, Spain – Jesús Rodriguez, Product Editor LA VANGUARDIA MAGAZINE, Spain – Marta Rodriguez Bosch, Product Editor DARC MAGAZINE, UK – Sarah Cullen, Product Editor Share on Facebook Twitter Linkedin Pinterest Pinterest You may also like...
