Home / The Edit News & Events Euroluce 2023: Shaping Atmospheres News & Events Euroluce 2023: Shaping Atmospheres From April 18th — 23rd, the world’s leading biennial lighting fair returned to Milan after a four year absence. Taking place as part of Salone del Mobile, the highly anticipated exhibition represented a major success and the start of a new era for Vibia.Over the six day event we welcomed thousands of guests to our stand, which brought together the latest in technical and aesthetic innovations from our catalogues, as well as showcasing new concepts on the horizon. SHAPING ATMOSPHERES: BETTER SPACES, BETTER LIVES Vibia exists to create beautiful atmospheres, improving lives by helping to create immersive, restorative and dynamic spaces to suit everyone’s needs. For this year’s edition, our booth was designed to strengthen and exemplify our Brand Purpose – Shaping Atmospheres: Better Spaces, Better Lives. Wellbeing design is about people and how they like to feel at any given time; we explore how individuals will use a space and compose adaptable, hybrid scenes to suit their needs. Certain areas of the booth were designed to showcase this concept, integrating Dynamic Light with subtle gradients in intensity, tone and colour. EXPLORING EMOTION THROUGH MATERIALITY On entering the stand, visitors were greeted by the new warm indoor collections, a category of products that explore positive emotions through the innovative use of materials. Each collection was exhibited according to an assumed use of space. Embracing the language of textiles, Knit resolves the tension between light and materiality in a series of sculptural forms. Arranged around a single chair and coffee table, guests were encouraged to linger, attracted by the collection’s soft luminosity. Array experiments with thread and its potential to create lightweight and dynamic sculptures of light. Suspended over a circular bench, visitors relaxed while soaking up the alluring effect of multiple volumes. Pairing contemporary lines with an ineffable lightness, Dama leverages the delicacy of laminated paper while Lily embraces the warmth of blown glass. The collections were presented alongside various chair and sofa arrangements, shaping a relaxed atmosphere. Flamingo Mini expresses a sense of lightness through its deconstructed silhouette. Arranged above various objects in a mock commercial environment, the fixtures cast diffuse gradations of soothing light through a synthesis of diffusers. Africa is the new companion light: a battery-powered, high-performance luminaire of portable proportions. Dotted about the booth, the collection was presented as both task light and Sculptural Object. A NEW WAY OF LIFE: INDOOR-OUTDOOR LIGHTS Now more than ever, we enjoy spaces with a natural transition from indoor to outdoor environments. Integrated throughout the booth into various terrace and patio-style settings, the new outdoor collections introduced visitors to a range of hybrid and transitional products. A romantic response to indoor-outdoor living, Out was presented in a range of soothing colours. A new typology of floor luminaire, the collection provides uniform, glare-free downlighting for maximum comfort. Class is a unique design, pure and organic with rich architectural elements. Timelessly elegant, it produces a comfortable diffuse light for transitional environments. A wrap-around gravel patio offered the perfect setting to showcase this collection. Dots Outdoor is a collection of non-intrusive bollards and wall lamps, offering subtle yet highly functional integration into the surrounding landscape. Mounted to the wall or into the gravel, guests were welcomed by its pleasant glow amongst several trees. The Spa collection is a concept designed for spaces where a sense of Wellness and Personal Care are important. Suitable for wet and humid locations, the minimalist display highlighted its easy maintenance and water resistant qualities. THE ATMOSPHERE CREATORS A large portion of the stand was dedicated to a unique range of conductive systems that define a New Era of Lighting. The three collections on display are what we call “atmosphere creators”. They provide total freedom of composition and guarantee a harmony of lighting effects, adapting to any type of space and emancipating the solution from the architecture. The concept of “Shaping Atmospheres” was first brought to life with Plusminus, which this year will evolve to incorporate Solo. We also introduced visitors to Bind and Circus: two new versatile and functional products that extend the conductivity concept by means of a signature “light track”, combined with a variety of complementary components. As a result of mixing accent, reflected and diffuse lighting, these systems create gradients of light density, allowing designers to play with visual hierarchy and create different scenes within a space. MANY DESIGNERS, ONE IDENTITY We came to Euroluce 2023 with an enriched portfolio of designers who have the ability to contribute to evolving Vibia’s Identity, and whose work is a reflection of what we stand for: Elegant, Essential, Sensual, Universal and Timeless design.
