The Nexum collection came about as an homage to the classical lamp with its uniquely elegant and historical overtones, but its designer Arik Levy wanted to reinterpret it more from an architectural perspective to incorporate it into more contemporary projects, both residential and contract. So that interior designers have a more actualised version of the traditional chandelier at their disposal which more than being merely decorative works as an adaptable system in three contrasting scales: small, medium and large – making it highly versatile.

Nexum treats electrical conductivity as its main structural principle via a continuous flow of light horizontally and vertically creating a network of lines that extends outwards to configure a precise geometric mesh. And the spotlights are integrated with the structure in a highly discreet manner, becoming part of the system, a seamless continuity. The choice of Led technology allows light and geometry to merge through the same shared language offering an even, balanced and glare-free illumination.

That’s the idea. Understanding light not as an isolated point in space, but instead as a structure inspired by conductivity, that channels the light through space, unfolding both horizontally and vertically from above. In this way, that structure organises, connects and defines the space being illuminated, complementing the architecture in an organic way. The result is a light fitting that brings order, rhythm and scale to spaces, without overwhelming those same spaces, the opposite in fact, they merge with the overall composition.

The Nexum ceiling version on the other hand presents a more integrated solution for the upper plane within a space, much more linear character. It projects a uniform downward lighting, guaranteeing visual comfort which makes it ideal for circulation zones, residential spaces and contract areas, wherever clarity and continuity are required.

Seen in perspective Nexum unmistakably becomes part of the spatial structure taking on a luminous geometry that connects and precisely orders the visual plane, and at the same time generates a calming, clear and coherent atmosphere.

Its designer, Antoni Arola, was inspired by the composure of the traditional double-pitched roofscapes of Asia and the delicate nature of rice paper in the design of the different components of the Asia collection, with the clear intention of reinterpreting the architecture of the East under a calming and uniform lighting concept.

The light fitting is articulated as a layering of different materials. On the one hand a quartz glass cylinder that houses the LED light source, and on the other a double pitched lacquered glass diffuser that filters the light into a warm halo, even and nuanced. The combination of densities makes the light look as if it’s coming from within, as if it were expanding organically to give form to an object with a delicate and harmonious visual presence.

Asia is conceived for interior spaces and includes three versions: pendant, with an adjustable height in three different lengths; floor lamp, measuring slightly more than one metre in height; and tabletop version, in a choice of single or double shade models, a reinterpretation of the library lamps in a more contemporary design language. These two latter versions include an adjustable diffuser.

In fact, the collection generates a dual lighting effect that allows for the creation of different lighting scenarios depending on the space and the user requirements. It offers both a diffused and immersive light, filtered indirectly through the lacquered glass, combined with a more precise and concentrated directional light, modulated by the diffuser’s angle or suspension height.

For any of these three versions the structure is available in a black, beige and off-white versions, adding a sober framework that enhances the purity of the glass. An elegant and precise contrast that supports the fitting without weighting it down, reinforcing its timeless quality and easy integration within a variety of decorative styles.

Along these same lines, Asia can adapt to any type of project, from residential, to contract, to hospitality, thanks to this luminous duality and it offers a variety of versions and lengths, allowing the interior designer to create bespoke compositions; everything from individual pieces to linear compositions or different height arrangements. Whatever the preference the light can dialogue with its architectural setting and creates a highly customised atmosphere.

That helps explain why the collection features such a wide variety of applications, equally suited as a pendant lamp for a dining table, whether in a residential or restaurant, tracing a clean and warm lighting silhouette that appears to float weightlessly. In addition, the adjustable height means its settings can be adapted, providing a more intimate and focused effect closer to the surface, or more expansive when raised.

The sensual experience of enjoying a beautiful dawn inspired the Palomba Serafini Studio in the creation of the Alba collection. That moment when the day’s first light emerges, appearing over the horizon, rising steadily helps generate the outline of this portable lamp, elegant and composed, both formally and functionally, with a marked tactile sensitivity.

Alba is a lamp of two parts, two volumes that appear to fuse along the tangent of their respective geometric curves. On the one hand it features a circular base, shiny and rounded, and on the other a diffuser that gives off a tenuous and welcoming aura, supported on a solid translucent cylinder. The identity of Alba resides in an almost imperceptible transition between material and light, just like the dawn itself.

Although conceived for indoors, its cordless portability allows for occasional use in outdoor spaces, thanks to the ergonomic curvature of the base that adapts seamlessly to the palm of the hand, making it easy to carry around. Wherever we want to create a cosy atmosphere Alba provides that discreet light, silent and subtle that helps set the mood at those times during our daily routines when calm is needed, whether that be at home or in hospitality projects, when alone or encouraging conversation with others.

Its carefully designed form, which recalls a contemporary candleholder, blends seamlessly with any modern interior setting, with the added advantage of being mobile to create an appealing ambience when placed on a dining table, by a bedside, on a restaurant terrace, within a favourite reading corner or the entrance of a hotel.

Its suitability for different indoor and outdoor settings lends Alba a versatility highly sought after in contemporary projects, providing solutions for intimate and relaxing lighting atmospheres. Designed by Ichiro Iwasaki, Closer provides a warm immersive lighting that compliments different moments throughout the day, actively interacting with outdoor terraces, living rooms, gardens and bedrooms thanks to its refined silhouette and semi-transparent volumes, as well as the other options made possible by the different models and finishes within an endless number of applications for homes, hotels, restaurants, etc.

Closer is clothed in a hand-woven mesh that adds a highly visual and tactile quality, even when turned off. The objective is to convert the volume of the lamp itself into the source of illumination (including the light coming from within), without affecting the shape, simply projecting a halo of light capable of transforming its surroundings thanks to the diffuse and warm lighting effect.

The lighting professional has three different designer silhouettes at their disposal, each adopting slightly different proportions, either wider or more elongated, that adapt to the individual projects in hand, whether that be residential or a commercial establishment.

The collection features a pendant version and a portable floor lamp in various pastel finishes from the Vibia colour palette, such as terracotta, beige, and green. Each colour choice adds subtle nuances to the lighting of the space thanks to the woven mesh, which enhances the fitting’s handcrafted character, with a black perimeter trim detail designed to reinforce the perception of the volume.

The versatility of the Closer collection allows for playful combinations of volumes, colours and heights offering diverse options for crafting mood lighting within real life settings, like encouraging conversation in a living room, or chilling out on a terrace. And one of the great advantages is that the same light fitting can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors while providing an aesthetic continuity without sacrificing lighting quality.

Gastronomy is culture. What we eat not only nourishes us, but it also teaches us, it tells us about the lands where the raw materials are sourced from, about how different dishes are prepared. The Montagud publishing house was founded in 1906 to celebrate this intellectual and communal aspect of food, constructing a published archive that records the legacy of the people who practice the art of cooking. The design of these books, and the Apicus magazine published twice yearly, is impeccable: each of the typographies, the blank spaces, the images are carefully considered. The culinary excellence is informed by the excellence of the books, and that same criteria is now applied to the physical space at the new Barcelona showroom, a space designed for encounters between gastronomic professionals and enthusiasts, food related experiences and shared conversations. A space specifically designed to feed this culture.

The Lago Interioriza studio designed the project which the publishers describe as “a space conceived to support the written word, for meetings and experiences without imposing its presence; a place for people who think about things.” And that design philosophy is also applied to the lighting, designed by Vibia’s Lighting & Wellbeing Studio team as a sequence of settings organised around the space that supports the various rituals that happen there. The Plusminus collection which was designed by the Diez Office featuring a textile belt which integrates the electrical wiring that allows different light fittings to be attached, provides this project with a remarkable versatility and complements the table lamp fittings, Musa, Africa and Mayfair as well as the hanging lamp Tempo.

On arrival, neatly organised bookshelves greet visitors, taking centre stage within the space. Beside them, a long table invites us to leaf through the pages of the books on display. Here, Plusminus helps organise the spatial layout. Along a single textile belt a Linear High Confort is attached that illuminates the tabletop combined with a few spots that direct the gaze towards the bookshelves. Perched over the table is Musa which introduces a more intimate scale through its design by Note Design Studio that attenuates the light through the hand-blown opaline glass shade. Meanwhile Africa sits on the side table, designed by Francisco Gomez Paz, projecting a sculpted, focal and adjustable lighting.

As we continue to explore deeper inside, we arrive at another corner, separated by a metallic curtain with a bar counter equipped for presentations, lined by a wall of shelving not for books this time, but culinary awards which the publishing house has collected since its founding. The story continues, and Plusminus reappears, this time in a green tone with semi-spherical lights suspended from the belt. Here too the elegant and portable Africa lamp focuses the light and will also be featured in the kitchen beyond.

In the area used for recording podcasts, christened ‘Se me antoja’, (I’m craving …), the light becomes more attenuated inviting a more intimate conversation, reflexion, and shared intimacy. An effect that Plusminus once again helps generate, this time with semi-spherical diffusers in a green finish.

We then arrive at the events space, with round tables accommodating gastronomic activities and shared experiences with other diners. Here the lighting is conditioned by the communal activities, inviting a mutual interaction between both while learning about food. The conical version of Plusminus directs the light towards the centre, reinforced by Mayfair Mini, the table version of the lamp, for a more intense illumination. The latter is a lighter contemporary reinterpretation of the classic lamp designed by Diego Fortunato, it reappears in the show-cooking area, supporting gastronomic demonstrations with its focal light over the dining tables and the counters complementing the general lighting scheme that Plusminus provides through the spherical version here attached to the green coloured textile belt. A tandem that perfectly addresses the different lighting requirements within the same shared space.

The kitchen, tucked into one of the corners, introduces a colourful yellow element into the scheme and, as one would expect, is given pride of place. Here the Linear High Confort version of Plusminus returns, a sleek minimalist fitting, highlighting the activities happening at the heart of the space below.

For the bathrooms the subtle silhouette of Tempo, designed by Lievore Altherr, seamlessly blends with its surroundings and completes the spatial flow. The oval structure of progressively more opaline glass attenuates the light and softens it. The collection’s Red Earth finish combines with the candles to create a sensation of calm.

This showroom is proof that food never tastes better than when it’s shared, when it’s discussed, when it is savoured by those who appreciate it. The lighting, a luminous mosaic of different collections that complement one another in the space while also creating a visual continuity, sets the scene for the cultural exchange that happens here.

Much more than simply being decorative the lighting is part of the architecture, dialoguing with it, with the public and the food itself. Adding to the gastronomic experience, highlighting the printed book as an object and celebrating aspects of food that go far beyond the kitchen.

Nexum was conceived as a way to connect different areas within our living environment. Levy redefines the concept of the chandelier with an architectural logic. Rather than interpreting the fixture as a central point or decorative object, it is articulated through a modular structure that unfolds horizontally and vertically across a space.

Geometric lines extend and intersect one another, introducing order, rhythm and proportion. As the composition unfolds, it defines pathways and creates hierarchies, encouraging spatial flow and adapting to different needs. It is never imposing, but rather accompanies the architecture.

According to Levy, modularity speaks only about the connection between similar elements, whereas flexibility is the ability to do many different things at the same time. Nexum can be arranged into various geometries—Lineal, Rectangular, Square and Volumetric—adjusting to the proportions of each environment without losing formal coherence.

Within this structure, light is understood as a tool for constructing space, a “language” to generate perception, shape emotion, and define the spatial experience. Light points are discreetly incorporated into Nexum’s geometry, forming part of the system without interrupting its continuity.

Levy emphasizes the importance of delivering subtle, balanced illumination that avoids shadows and excessive contrasts. Rather than playing with graphics, Nexum introduces depth and volume.

Light is no longer concentrated in a single point but distributed evenly, creating spacious, coherent, and comfortable atmospheres. The collection has the specific quality of creating an aura, rather than an effect. This approach makes it possible to illuminate from an elevated position, maintaining a subtle presence that integrates naturally into the space.

Available in suspended and ceiling mounted versions, Nexum adapts to both residential and large-scale contract environments, always maintaining a consistent logic: to conform to its architectural surroundings and create balanced, integrated atmospheres.

In a high-ceilinged atrium in a hotel or restaurant, it magnifies the user’s sense of presence. For smaller, residential settings, the super-slim, ceiling-mounted option provides effective lighting without compromising on space. Installed above a table, it evokes a calm atmosphere, fostering an intimate relationship between user and environment.

Nexum is not an object, it is a system. It is not an invasion of space, but rather a performance of it. Whatever the setting, its luminous geometry connects scenes, organises spaces, and defines serene, coherent environments. Light becomes part of the spatial structure – a continuous, harmonious narrative that flows with the rhythm of daily life.

Imagine a day in June in Copenhagen. The sun brings warmth in anticipation of summer and the city hums to the rhythm of 3daysofdesign. Hours slip away in a constant flow between colourful buildings and cobbled streets. In the heart of the city, the streets open up to reveal a brick church with a rectangular floor plan and a pitched slate roof. Surrounded by an aura of serenity that hints at what awaits inside. And what awaits is CENTER, Vibia’s lighting exhibition curated by Note (design studio), which offered calm, contemplation and stillness throughout the festival.

Inside Helligaandshuset Church, Vibia’s luminaires entered into a dialogue with the historic architecture in all their contemporary character. They made it feel approachable and accessible, while the building, in turn, elevated them. Their light touched every stone, every arch and every ribbed vault. Ritual became the thread connecting present and past because that is precisely what good lighting seeks to achieve: to accompany the ceremonies of everyday life, creating the right setting for every routine, every situation and every emotion. For three days, from 10 to 12 June, CENTER became a shared experience of light.

A large dark wooden table positioned at the centre of the installation acted as the focal point of this act of connection. It was a meeting place where designers, professionals and visitors could gather to converse, share ideas or simply sit and experience the light. On the table, around it, outside the church and within the threshold — the transitional space between the two — different yet complementary luminaires were displayed in a layered lighting composition reflecting the four areas of exploration, what we call design concepts, and with them, different ways of approaching the relationship between light, space and the people who inhabit it.

At the centre of the scene, on the table, were designs whose sensitive light is expressed through materiality, form and texture. These collections embody the concept of ‘Materiality and warm light’, representing the meeting point between lighting and art. Visitors to the exhibition in Copenhagen were able to discover two collections that will be available next autumn: Duna, designed by Cecilie Manz, and Array Lineal, by Umut Yamac. The first is a delicate structure made of washi paper, light and almost absent. The second explores the possibilities of thread to create luminous sculptures. Asia, by Antoni Arola, was also present, evoking the archetype of the Eastern house.

To one side of the installation stood Circus, by Antoni Arola, with its elegant simplicity designed to conduct light. Under the concept of ‘Conducting light through space’, it guided the visitor journey alongside the Plusminus collection by Diez Office, positioned behind Duna, between it and Array Lineal.

Both iconic collections, which have played a defining role in Vibia’s evolution, are born from this idea and share the same philosophy: a structure — a conductive bar in the case of the former and a textile belt in the case of the latter — into which different types of luminaires can be integrated. Designs that adapt in service of creativity.

At both ends of the large table, the scene evolved throughout the day thanks to luminaires responding to the concept of ‘Dynamic light’, whose illumination changed in tone and intensity to adapt to the natural light filtering through the large stained-glass windows. Among them were two collections that will soon join the Vibia catalogue: Daylight, by Daniel Rybakken, which evokes the effect of natural light entering through a window, and Oko, by Ramos & Bassols, a monolith floating in space whose light interacts with its form.

Their light was complemented by that of the acclaimed Pro, by Holscher Design, which subtly reinterprets the mechanism of the spotlight.

Finally, there were the collections that demonstrate how lighting adapts to different architectural contexts and how outdoor spaces also require warmth and atmosphere. This is the idea behind the fourth concept, ‘Indoor-outdoor living’, and examples could be found both inside and outside the church. Indoors were Africa, designed by Francisco Gomez Paz; Alba, by Palomba Serafini Associati; Mayfair Mini, by Diego Fortunato; and Musa, by Note Design Studio.

In the threshold, the transitional space between interior and exterior, visitors encountered Closer by Ichiro Iwasaki, which reappeared in the garden alongside Out, by Víctor Carrasco, both engaging in dialogue with the surrounding nature and the city beyond.

In a setting conceived for connection, connection was indeed constant and genuine. It happened through spontaneous visits, but also through the ‘Meet the Designers’ sessions, which allowed visitors to meet the designers behind the collections in person, understand how they think and discover their creative processes. It was present from the very beginning, from the evening of 10 June, with the opening celebration that brought together friends of the brand.

Throughout these three days, while Copenhagen breathed design, CENTER offered an invitation to pause, to reflect and to be enveloped by light, by its texture and by the way it can transform a space and those who inhabit it. An invitation to experience that transformation.

Opened in 2018 as an addition to the main clinic, Antares, the House of Inspiration at Buchinger Wilhelmi Marbella, is home to the Sala del Silencio, a project by Dadà Studio that extends the identity of this institution founded by Dr Otto Buchinger, renowned for placing therapeutic fasting and integrative medicine within a comprehensive medical programme. An approach that considers healing not as an interruption in our daily rhythm of life but instead an opportunity to observe it from a different perspective. Beyond conventional healthcare settings, the care here is shaped through generous proportions, natural materials and a layout that communicates calm, order and balance.

The gallery is defined by its generous porch, welcome shade and indoor/outdoor feel, where the openings and the arches frame a view of the garden and its water feature with a clarity that changes throughout the day. This continuity specifically helps to introduce a lighting that is subtly integrated with its calming character. At the centre of the space a large table positioned by the water, looking out over the vegetation becomes a focal point for activities and functions as a meeting point. And, right above, the Circus collection, designed by Antoni Arola, introduces a suspended structure in a black finish that follows the table’s longitudinal axis and provides a visual order with a precise but unobtrusive presence.

Of course, this precision also extends to the way the lighting is projected. The lighting rail allows for the placement of conical shades and small spotlights above the table without cluttering the ceiling with superfluous elements, so each part responds to a specific need and maintains the continuity of the composition. Specifically, the conical shades project the lighting downward over the tabletop which facilitates routine activities such as reading, conversation, or just taking a breather between activities, while the spotlights provide more focused and controlled direct light in the areas where required.

The result is a modular system that allows for combining different effects within a singular solution. The light can be adjusted to different intensities and times of the day, creating a presence while maintaining a steady level of lighting during different activities taking place there. The structure ultimately acts as a common thread, reflecting the calmness embodied by the design within the framework of its location, lighting the space without overwhelming it.

Within a context like this, dedicated to personal care and recuperation, the lighting cannot be simply functional. It is also instrumental in the way the place is perceived, how one orientates oneself within while avoiding any sensation of coldness or impersonal design often associated with clinical type spaces. At the Sala del Silencio, that approach starts with Mediterranean architecture itself: light-coloured walls, shade, generous openings and a constant dialogue with the outdoors that conditions the way that light reaches the interior, how it is filtered and augmented as the day progresses.

With its measured presence, seamlessly integrated with the space’s relaxed character and attentive to the life unfolding beneath its arches throughout the day, Circus responds to this setting sensitively without overwhelming it. The collection accompanies the project functionally, discreetly and thoughtfully, allowing each activity to find the level of illumination it requires without disturbing the surrounding calm. A light that facilitates the uses carried out there while fomenting a sense of calm.

Just inside the threshold of Hidden Sant Gervasi the eye is captured automatically by the stainless cylindrical island. There is no bar counter to differentiate the areas. Coffee is ground, weighed and served before whoever arrives in front. Everything happens there, with no division lines. The making process is no longer hidden, in such a way that even just ordering a cup of coffee feels different and much more intimate.

And it didn’t happen by accident. This is the fourth Hidden Coffee Roasters establishment in Barcleona, at number 101 of Travessera de Gràcia, after a pioneering journey which commenced in 2015 when speciality coffee was still an unfamiliar concept for most. Since the beginning as well as introducing the idea to the public, the brand invested in the source, traceability and its own roasting, makign an argument for direct and full transparency between the barista, the client and the product. Rather than accelerating its consumption, the preference was taking one step at a time, from the gran to the cup.

This opening, more than any of the previous ones, encapsulates the journey they’ve undertaken over more than a decade. “For us, it’s a turning point,” explains Hidden, “it’s not just about opening a new space, but about reaffirming who we are today. After years of growth in the sector, we wanted to do something that spoke from experience, from learning, and from the desire to continue adding value.”

That intention is immediately obvious on entering. The architect Javi Iniesta and his team Studio Animal in collaboration with Hidden, designed an interior that avoids anything unnecessary while putting the emphasis on coffee and its preparation. The central island brings together the making and acts as a unifying element for its surroundings, facilitating a more fluid circulation around it. Anyone nearby can observe, ask questions or simply hang out at their leisure. The overall layout is more open, homely, a space that invites spending time rather than just leaving afterwards.

The materials respect the same logic. The charred wood, inspired by the same tones as the roasting process, adds a warm character, while the steel and glass act as a pristine counterpoint. Everything combines while nothing overwhelms. The materials don’t compete with one another. Each element fulfils its specific function and adds to the coffee making activity, which is what ultimately counts, but discreetly. Just like the light.

The Array Collection by Vibia designed by Umut Yamac is suspended over the island with a presence that is equally diaphanous and sculptural. Its slim metal rings and mesh of stretched threads trace an ethereal volume that attenuates the light and directs is in two directions: downwards, where is lights helps the baristas expert hands in the preparation, and upwards, where it’s gently reflected and refracted throughout the rest of the establishment, reaching the tables and waiting area. The lighting is uniform, no glare or stark shadows, immersing the interior atmosphere in a seamless manner, insulating it from the city noises outside.

Featuring the Terra Red finish, the piece introduces an earthy tone that establishes a dialogue with the charred wood and softens the steel, naturally integrating with the interior palette. More than its presence as an object in space, it acts as a calming reference that helps to configure the various elements and mark the daily rhythm. From first thing in the morning when the deluge of coffee orders descends, till the elevenses get-togethers and the more drawn-out afternoon breaks, the lighting facilitates work, conversation or simply disconnecting from the routine. Hidden describe it simply as; “Even just as a central element, it helps us in the perception of a warmer more harmonious space. That was exactly what we were after.”

In the end, it all boils down to something very simple. The grinding of the bean, the dripping water, the expert hands serving the coffee cup. The lighting doesn’t seek to overwhelm, it’s just there, discreetly supporting the daily routine.

Hidden Sant Gervasi demonstrates how when design and lighting work together to elevate the ordinary, even an everyday decision like taking a coffee break can become a mini ritual you’ll want to repeat, in a setting where you’ll want to linger, look around, and let the coffee set the pace.

With four discreet fittings to choose from, the system adapts to the existing architecture. For accessible drop ceilings, remote and built-in solutions accentuate the visual lightness of each composition, with flawless connections ensuring a clean, uncluttered aesthetic.
