Home / The Edit Insights Vibia Captures 2019 Colour Trends With each new year comes new trends in colour. What’s on the design-world radar for 2019? Warm terracottas, cool greys, and classic greens, to name a few. Incorporating these colours into your lighting scheme is a seamless way to stay on style point, whether it be indoor or outdoor installations, ceiling or wall lamps. Light grey is Benjamin Moore’s colour of the year. This neutral hue exudes a sleek sophistication perfectly encapsulated in Vibia’s Cosmos pendant. Designed by Lievore Altherr, Cosmos draws inspiration from satellites orbiting the moon. Composed of flattened, lacquered discs that dangle from the ceiling by a pair of slim cables, its pale grey tone enhances the illusion of celestial spheres floating in space. Arik Levy’s Structural ceiling lamp in light grey is similarly on trend. Characterized by crisp cubic volumes, Structural is a spare aluminum box paired with slim metal rods that both support and separate the geometric forms. Its calm grey hue and spare silhouette lend it a minimalist mien that blends easily into the architecture. For Sherwin Williams, 2019 is all about rich terracotta. Both casual and refined, this color is suffused with what they call a “desert modern” sensibility that radiates warmth like the late-afternoon sun. Vibia’s Origami in terra finish exudes the same elemental feel. Designed by Ramón Esteve, the fixture is an avant-garde reimagining of the traditional Japanese art of folding paper. Its sculptural geometric modules, arrayed along a wall in copper clusters, feel at once ancient and of the moment. Offered in matte brick lacquer, Vibia’s Tempo by Lievore Altherr telegraphs a similarly earthy attitude. Its burnt orange hue provides warmth to the pared-down pendant and a vibrant counterpoint to the restrained sensibility. Deep hunter green has captured the attention of PPG Paints this year. The colour most associated with nature, it recalls the verdant and invigorating shade of vegetation. Offered in green lacquer, Vibia’s Meridiano is an outdoor floor and wall lamp designed by Jordi Vilardell and Meritxell Vidal. Steel rods form a spherical, open-slot profile that generates a starburst pattern of light and shadow. Its brilliant emerald hue accentuates the natural effect, seamlessly integrating with the surrounding landscape while making a bold design statement. The Pin lamp by Ichiro Iwasaki also comes in a green colour. The fixture’s lean lines are punctuated by a bold, circular base and diminutive shade in a striking interplay of geometric forms. The abstract design offers a distinctly playful appeal that is enhanced by the energetic green tone. Share on Facebook Twitter Linkedin Pinterest Pinterest
