Vibia Lighting Illuminates a Contemporary Panama City Apartment

In 2018, a sprawling apartment in Panama City underwent a stunning renovation courtesy of local firms Mallol Architects and lighting design studio Arquiluz. The mission? To impart both a sense of privacy and flow in a 640-square-meters family home.

The designers created a contemporary, clean-lined interior whose white palette exudes a look of luminosity and purity. Wood flooring and cabinetry act as a warm counterpoint throughout. Elegant and soothing, the interiors feature restrained furnishings and lighting by Vibia in the living areas.

The formal dining room is illuminated by Toan Nguyen’s LED-powered Algorithm pendant, which creates a striking focal point in the airy, unadorned space. Handblown glass spheres are affixed to a tubular steel structure, recalling a constellation of glowing orbs seemingly suspended in mid-air. The delicate drops rise and fall to form double x’s over the table, its crisp geometry balanced by an ethereal attitude.

A smaller eating area is brightened by Cosmos pendant. The LED light by Lievore, Altherr, Molina features a cluster of minimalist, lacquered discs that exude a quiet presence. Recalling intergalactic forms floating in space, Cosmos’ circular silhouettes mirror the round table below and the white, grey, and black palette nods to its colour scheme.

Vibia The Edit - A Contemporary Panama City Apartment - North

In the expansive, open-space living room, deployed the North Floor Pendant by Arik Levy. The innovative lamp features two slender stems fitted with triangular shades that sprout up from behind the circular sofa like trees in nature. Its spare, deconstructed silhouette matches the minimalist mood of the space while adding a graphic accent that defines the seating area.
