Home / The Edit Insights Stories Behind: The Top Collection Ramos & Bassols created Vibia’s LED-powered Top collection, a streamlined design defined by a pair of concentric circles. The simple spheres form a focal point that recalls a bullseye pulsing with a soft, ambient glow. The smaller disc—the diffuser—reflects light back at the larger plate that contains it, lending it the look of light framed within its own pure geometry.Top was inspired by the classical rosette motif, a stylized floral design seen on ceilings, which Ramos & Bassols reimagined in a modern, minimalist silhouette. The result? The ceiling becomes part of the lamp’s profile—a playful way to use lighting as an extension of an architectural element. The designers were also interested in manipulating lighting effects, which they achieved with different materials. For direct lighting, they used a larger reinforced metal plate combined with a smaller opal glass diffuser, lending a “more compact luminescence,” as they describe it. To create an even, indirect luminescence, they opted for an injected aluminum plate, and enhanced the warmth by hiding the light source behind the diffuser. In addition to the ceiling style, Top is also available as a wall lamp, which doubles as abstract art. Both versions are offered in mini, small, medium, and large sizes.
